Why Hire in Taiwan

Expanding to Taiwan

Taiwan is a powerhouse in international technology, leading global semiconductor manufacturing, electronics supply chains, software engineering, and hardware design. It offers an exceptionally talented and university-educated workforce with deep engineering capabilities.

Utilizing an EOR in Taiwan provides international businesses with operational agility, granting immediate hiring capabilities without waiting for branch office approval or navigating localized Labor Standards Act mandates independently.

Employment Laws

Employment Regulations in Taiwan

Under the Labor Standards Act (LSA), standard work hours are 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, with at least two rest days every seven days. Although probation is no longer explicitly defined in statutory law, a 3-month probationary agreement remains standard practice. Terminations are restricted to explicit statutory grounds listed under Articles 11 and 12 of the LSA.

Taxes & Benefits

Taxation and Employee Benefits

Employers must contribute toward Labor Insurance, Employment Insurance, National Health Insurance (NHI), and a mandatory 6% contribution into the statutory Labor Pension fund. Statutory benefits include paid annual leave (scaling from 3 to 30 days based on tenure), public holidays, and paid sick leave.

Payroll Compliance & Health Insurance

Taiwanese Payroll Administration

Payroll is distributed on a monthly schedule. EOR administration executes local tax withholdings, remits mandatory social contributions, and submits accurate statutory enrollment files directly to the National Health Insurance Administration and Labor Insurance Bureau.

IP Assignment & PDPA Standards

Intellectual Property and Data Security

Under Taiwan's Copyright Act and Patent Act, intellectual property created by employees as part of their regular employment duties belongs to the employer unless contractually agreed otherwise. Personal data processing complies with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
